Business and motherhood: my ideal cocktail
Entrepreneurship and being a mother ... for me it's the perfect cocktail. It gives me energy, freedom and satisfaction. I can work on my own business and be there for my children when needed.
My children are 17, 13 and almost 7. As a perfectionist, I want to do everything right: have a clean house, bake cookies, keep inventory up to date and, of course, keep up with emails. And yes, that is sometimes a challenge.
Still, the freedom of entrepreneurship is wonderful. For example, if we want to go on vacation, we just go. Of course then the orders drop for a while and sales are slightly lower, but the feeling that I can determine this myself is priceless.
Friday I had to pick up our youngest because she had spat at school. A quick trip to the office to hand everything over and then I was able to sit on the couch with my pug. Those moments make it all so precious.
But honestly? It's still a quest: how do you find the balance? How do you avoid feeling like you're shortchanging work at home and shortchanging your family at work?
That's why I think it would be great to have a group of entrepreneurial moms to spar with. Just sharing experiences, exchanging tips, laughing about the chaos and reassuring each other a bit that we all recognize this. This is where I'm really going to actively seek out.

Being an entrepreneur and a mother means shifting gears, making choices and setting priorities. It's chaotic, challenging, but most of all very enjoyable. Because the best part of this cocktail? You get to build something that is yours every day, while also being there for the people you love most.
